ForeFlight just sent me a notice that when Apple updates their operating system my iPhone 6 and iPad mini Gen 2 will not be supported anymore.

Yea, looks like I know what I am getting for Fathers Day!! Upgrades!! ;-)

Got the same notice.

It says "After the new iOS minimum goes into effect, devices that are not running at least iOS13 will not be able to install new versions of ForeFlight. However app functionality for recent versions of ForeFlight will not be affected."

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that as long as I don't upgrade to anything over ForeFlight Pro Plus which I have now and don't plan to upgrade to Performance Plus or later I should be fine. Now if it means that ForeFlight will no longer work on an IPad mini 2, then I'm screwed.

Edit: Yeah, I think I'm screwed.

I received that email too, I bought my Mini back at the end of 2016. It was (and still is) the perfect size for a small piston single airplane cockpit. You could rest it on your knee right above your knee board or easily place it somewhere comfortable within reach. It's got the internal GPS and after about five hundred hours of use it's still pretty good with a decent battery life

However.. Foreflight is SSLLOOWW... This is my biggest complaint with it

I was thinking of upgrading this year anyway, I guess this will force my hand

I'll keep using my mini as long as I can. It fits the yoke on my Mooney. When I can't use it anymore I'll probably pony up for a new mini.

I swapped to Android and Avare this month for the one time cost of a pro plus subscription.

Yep, it’s not as refined as FF, but it does everything I need it to do.

Looks like I'll be buying a new ipad instead of that GoPro I had my eye on.

It means if ForeFlight adds any new features to the app (whether they are in the Pro Plus plan or the Performance Plus plan, you will not be able to upgrade to the new version of the app. You will be able to keep using the version of the ForeFlight app that you currently have and if you are happy with that feature set, you should have no issues continuing to use that.

You have a Mooney?

For the last few years, yes.

Rather what I was thinking. And my subscription is so cheap I haven't many features anyway. Can't miss what you don't have. I figure eventually it'll get too slow and I'll pony up for a new device.

When I bought the last ipad, I bought the top of the line at the time, and I'm glad I did, as it still runs fast and well, and I've gotten 13 years of use from it and it's still in fine shape. My wife's ipad is much older and slow as a dog, so I'll pass this one to her and get a new ipad pro. Hopefully it will serve me well for another 10+ years.

If I have a mini in my Mooney, how much money for more memory?

I'm considering dumping all Apple products. Maybe I'm just brainwashed by Louis Rossman's youtube channel or maybe Apple really does suck.
