I have not been able to drive OR fly for weeks. That will end Thursday and the wx is supposed to be nice again that day! I'm counting down the hours!

(For the terminally curious, I had surgery on my foot and have to wear a boot.)

Interestingly, my husband has been really enjoying my depending on him to drive me everywhere. I think I turned out to be way more independent and self-sufficient than he was hoping for when we got married 11.5 years ago, although you'd think he'd have figured that out, given I'm a pilot. He can't wait until I get the other foot done next year.

If he's lucky, maybe I'll have to have the other knee replaced sometime.

Congrats!

Since you couldn't drive, I'm surprised you didn't just ride the motorcycle instead. ;)

LOL! I guess I could, if I depended solely on the front brake. I don't think I'd feel too happy about that, though. Besides, it's still a little cool for me. <5 days now.

Are you going to link us to a countdown clock? :)

We're all rooting for you!
I would if I could figure out how. I have a link, but when I try to post it, all it shows is the link, not the clock itself.

18 hours....assuming, of course, the doc isn't running late. Now I'm starting to get nervous about him pulling the pin. I have a pin running from the tip of one toe (with a fetching green ball hanging off the tip of my toe), down through all the little bones and into the long bone (metatarsal) in my foot. I asked him if I should take painkillers ahead of time and he said no, so I won't. I hope I don't regret that decision.

I understand. When you ask, "will this hurt" and they say, "not at all" it's because they won't feel a thing.

Hope it goes well ...

OMG I got chills reading this. Good Luck !

Well? How'd it go? Your pin description hurts my foot all over again. Undetermined if I'll get one too.

The pin removal was interesting. I didn't know what to expect, so my brain just filled in a guess about the pin-pulling. My guess was completely wrong, which I think meant it didn't hurt as much because by the time my brain figured out what was actually happening, it was over. Unfortunately, if I get the other foot done, I will know what to expect. But really, it wasn't as bad as I feared. I would not have needed the pain killers.

I still can't walk normally, which isn't surprising given that tendons and ligaments were essentially frozen in place for 6 weeks. It's actually pretty painful trying to walk normally, but I've been through rehab from a knee replacement and that hurts, too. I know it will take time and I just have to keep at it and be patient. My foot still looks weird because it's pretty puffy, but at least the toes are where they are supposed to be. The contrast with my other foot is pretty startling.
