Sometimes I read Onion stories just trying to analyze why it's funny, or why it's ironic. Here's one where the writer seemingly was inspired by the FAA's "hazardous attitudes" for ADM.

Excerpt: “Attention passengers, bear with me for a moment; I just want to try a little something here,” ... I just want to see what happens.”

I frequently find the onion to be funny. This article was quite funny in a large bit.

The Onion is hilarious. Until they try to make a political statement. Read it all the time.

Where was the funny part? I only got a short paragraph with a picture that I thought might be a link to a funny video. But it was just a picture.

You want me to explain why I find certain things funny that you do not? Do you also want me to explain all of our other differing idiosyncrasies and why we have them? I guess I can start at birth and how no two people are exactly alike, then fan the facts out from there.

I wasn't asking for any of that. I just thought I missed something. Well, obviously I did. Can you at least hint to me what you thought was funny? Perhaps the codeine I am taking, or the pain in my chest that it is supposed to be helping, has dulled my sense of humor.

The Onion is generally dry satirical humor. Some people dig it, some people don't. But I hear having cold beers in hot showers helps. Not sure how that will go with codeine, but maybe you'll get some good sleep later.

So true. Reminds me of that line from "Good Morning Vietnam" where the nerdy, wannabe comic guy talking to Robin Williams' character (genius-level funny) says something like, "Comedy is a hobby of mine. Perhaps we can sit down sometime and discuss humorous stories." :D

Funny is very personal. I got a chuckle out of the Onion piece...not exactly laugh out loud. I liked the subtlety.
