Both are geographically limited. Wing X has all the mapping in the SVT between 15N & 60N. You can climb to 150,000' and see Honduras and everything. They just haven't populated that database with nav data. So, WingX makes for a save, I'm going to uninstall Foreflight, it's of no use that WingX doesn't cover. Both of them are poor at this point. They could at least offer Jeppesen subscription.

What product does the same job as foreflight using a complete database? IFR database/L-Enroute...

Ok, What is the processes for returning an App within an hour of downloading it?

Don't know what either company's refund policies are, but I'm sure they'll tell you. :) Both have contact info.

That said, they both publish their geographic coverage areas too, don't they? ;)

As far as Jepp goes, Jepp makes their own iPad App. It has no frills, just shows their charts. It's also significantly more expensive.

ForeFlight has the ability to load almost any document as a "bring your own chart" feature... but it won't really be useful if you've flown off of their charts, I suppose. It just displays it. You can do that with GoodReader too.

Both ForeFlight and WingX are using Seattle Avionics as their upstream chart vendor. You might whine to them... not that it'd do much good, but maybe.

I have a feeling you are "not their target market segment". :) :) :) But hey, you never know... ask 'em when they are going to have the areas you want covered, or if you can pay for those areas...

Well, WingX guy said next month no more Seattle Avionics. It's vesterday anyway. They need to populate the terrain database to ge a HITS interface.

I hate to even mention it, but have you looked at (the evil) Chartcase Pro?

Finding PC tablets that compare to the iPad is awful, and messing with Windows pre-flight is nauseating, but they might cover more of the planet.

I only mention it while biting my tongue. Their patent trolling is why I'll never fire up the Chartcase laptop ever again. A solid waste of money on an awful company.

I'd rather pay Jepp's pricing and that's saying a lot coming from this cheapskate.

Perhaps this is what you need:

Too bad they don't have approach charts yet.

Hmm, you know what? I've seen Jepp charts on an iPad, and it was a Jepp application... but the person may or may not work for Jepp, and we live in the land of Jepp 'round here since they're 3 miles from my house...

I thought that they had something out already.

Perhaps I'm accidentally letting the cat out of the bag. Wasn't like he tried to hide it from anyone, though... hmm...

Now I'm going to have to go ask. I never realized that their public App says it's enroute-only.

I saw it, and kinda dismissed it, since I knew it would be gold-plated price-wise. Didn't even realize that what I was seeing might be not-released-yet.

Or maybe it's something you have to work for an airline to get, or...? Odd.
