So,

Here I am at 3500’ MSL in my 182P, at cruise, just a hair rich of peak, on a day where the OAT is +3c, and the oil cooler has been “taped over”. Why is the oil temp so low? I’m assuming the pressure is high because of the low oil temp. I’ve been told it may be a bad vernatherm. Has anyone ever experienced this same issue? Has anyone had the vernatherm replaced? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

John

PS—the EGT gauge is inaccurate

Are your cowl flaps fully closed?

My C150 will never ever get “hot” in the winter. Barely reading in the green on the gauge is where it sits in freezing weather. In the summer it is firmly in the middle of the range (and creeping up on hot days). Not a 182, but not uncommon for other planes in winter.
