O the front pages!

I can't get that link to open. I get a 503, too many files open, error.
Funny, I get it to open. OK, I'll try the picture itself. I didn't want people to read the punch line first...

Obama Rolls!

Here is the recipe!

attachment.php

Obama Rolls
(makes 3 rolls, or 15-18 pieces)
3 square sheets of nori seaweed (can be found in packages at most Asian groceries)
1 cup uncooked sushi rice
4 tablespoons sushi vinegar*
1 medium Japanese eggplant, halved lengthwise and cut to 1/2″ sticks
2 cups vegetable oil
10-12 fresh spinach leaves, stems trimmed
1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
*I used a bottle of stuff simply called “Sushi Vinegar,” and its ingredients are vinegar, water, sugar and “seasonings.” If you want to mix up your own from scratch, get yourself some Japanese rice vinegar and dissolve sugar and salt into it, following one of these recipes.

Sigh... I think I need to say this again, outside the Spin Zone.

I'm through with the divisions. It's time for us to be Americans. This is, however, aimed mostly at those who could have been called Obama supporters a week ago:

Let's not relish the victory so much as the message:

Barack Obama said:
In this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people. Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House – a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.

Listen to what the man said. No gloating from the left, no calls for apologies from the right. I, for one, am going to put my actions where my mouth is and not gloat or waste time on things that cannot be undone. The past is the past, and it's time for all of us, as Americans, to start pointing forward instead of at each other.

Agreed Mike. I wasn't an Obama supporter prior to the election, and I still have my disagreements with his policies. But dammit, he's my President now, and I'm going to support him and do my part to help him do the best job he can. To anyone who says, "he's not my President", I say, "Really? Are you no longer an American? Because he is the American President."

Let's all put the petty BS aside and go fix the problems we're facing.

Not until he swears the oath of office in January. George W. Bush is still your president today.

Semantics. Yes, technically Pres G. W. Bush is still our president until 1/20. Yes, I know that. He still gets my support until he moves out of that house on Pennsylvania Avenue. But my point still stands, B.H. Obama is the President-elect, since you want to be technical, and as such deserves our support.

Agreed Mike.

Mike? :dunno:

And PJ, Obama at least sees that what you're saying is a two-way street. The very next thing he said after what I quoted above was:

Barack Obama said:
As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And, one more thing:

Barack Obama said:
There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.
