I took these shots while I was at KLEW(EAST RAMP)(Maine) today. Maurice has been working on these since about 1988. His latest desire is to have one of them "ready" some time this year. Of course he's been saying that for almost 20 years. For more information just Google Maurice Roundy and you'll get a bunch of hits. I've been in his house which has a large indoor swimming pool; and on one end the kitchen and dining area(and the piano) are on the 2nd level
in the replica control tower.
(I've been in the Connies, too; they're bare on the inside, at present)
(Actually, these aren't at the East Ramp. They're at Maurice's house on Hotel Road, just before the East Ramp.)

The Save-A-Connie group is not EAA. They just come to Oshkosh every year

You got it, Nick. This project is Maurice's personal project. He, also, owns another Connie -- the best of the three -- which is on loan to a museum in Florida. http://www.starliner.net/

I saw that one at Fantasy of Flight. They mentioned that it wasn't owned by Kermit Weeks, but didn't name the owner. Saw the video of them flying it in there. They did a low pass to check it out, then came around and landed. Traffic on the nearby interstate came to a stop and the Sherriff got calls about an airplane crashing. When he was given the location, he knew what was really going on.

Did I miss something? It looks like his title says its not....

I'm also tired though.

Try to follow, it's a double declension....

1) The story is the guy has a Connie.

2) The title says, "NOT AN EAA project."

3) That title implies that OTHER Connie restorations are EAA projects.

My comment meant that AFAIK, EAA is not restoring a Connie and The "Save-A-Connie" project is not an EAA group. I may be wrong.

I don't see EAA on any these, but I just did a quick look.

Capiche?

The gist of my title was that this is NOT "your basic home-built aviation project."
