There's a very old post (from 2012) here talking about San Francisco Bay Area avionics shops. I'd love to update that information with peoples' recommendations for, and (if applicable) against, avionics shops in Northern California.
I fly a Grumman Tiger based at San Carlos, we are looking to do a significant upgrade (probably 2 Garmin GI-275s, a Garmin 355 GPS Nav/Com, and a TBD VOR Nav+Com (maybe Val Avionics.) We had ADS-B work done about three years ago by Velocity Avionics (who was in Modesto then, but have now moved to Columbia.) They did a good job but have been really flaky in trying to get pricing out of them for this work. I actually flew out there a couple of months ago and got them to give me a quote, but then when we decided to go with the GI-275s (instead of the G5s they quoted) I couldn't get any response out of them to revise the estimate. So I'm thinking I need to look elsewhere.
I've heard recommendations for Executive Autopilots out of Sacramento, and J&R out of Livermore. Anybody have experience with them or others?
I'm probably a little biased against shops which are in the Bay Area, only because I assume they'll be very pricey, and we are trying to keep the costs down to the extent we can. But interested in any thoughts.
Thanks in advance!
