That P-3 has a storied career if its the same airframe I think it is.

The radio operator on that flight was family, and he gave us a tour of this airplane when we visited Miami back in the day. P-3's are pretty stout.

They were also checking if they could get a break to get home to LAL instead of their storm evac hangout at EFF.
