Touchdown! Greaser!
On the other hand, I know a guy who had a generator fail…turned out the broken gear put a hole in the case.If we fly long enough, failures will happen and odds are a few of them will be away from home base. I slung an alternator belt on our 182 climbing out of Hattiesburg MS, heading to FTY. Took a minute to sort out exactly what had happened, weather was severe clear and I was VFR. I shut off the master switch and continued towards Atlanta. When we got close to Atlanta, I turned on the master switch, transponder and one nav-com. Landed at FTY without issue. Had the weather been any different, I would have landed back in Mississippi.
Or when the generator failed because of a hydraulic leak that started a fire that the airplane didn’t tell me about.
