As a matter of fact yes. A few years earlier I had a similar injury and we shared experiences.

Back when Breathed (and I) were at UT, I was at the Coop, trying to decide whether I should buy a copy of his Academia Waltz compilation (Academia Waltz was the title of his strip in the Daily Texan).

I was on the verge of deciding that I could not justify the expense, when the cashier told me, "You buy it, I'll autograph it." Having never met the guy, I made him show me his ID to prove he was who he said he was, and then I bought the book.

Unfortunately, as will happen living in a frat house, the book disappeared at some point, which is too bad, as it might be worth something, and I certainly wish I still had it for sentiment's sake.
