News Flash: BIG pilots don't crash!

article said:
Authorities were alerted at 5:26 p.m. that the plane went down next to a walkway that leads from the parking lot to the beach, said State Park Police Chief Richard O'Donnell.

I know that park about as well as anyone except the late Robert Moses himself, and I'll bet that the "walkway" the Chief is talking about is actually the meandering, mile-long path that leads from Parking Field 5, past the lighthouse, and down to the Fire Island National Seashore Beach -- more commonly known as the "Nude Beach" to locals.

Then I'm sure the pilot was VFR, sightseeing.

Perhaps it was a small plane that goes ahead and clears the route for a bigger plane...like a pilot car...:D

It's a real shame, since this photo was taken just before takeoff of the doomed flight:

Can't see the small pilot, but the airplane was a high wing, reducing visibility for the little feller to nil.

I think the magenta line of death was so tiny that the small pilot couldn't see it, rendering safe flight impossible.
