Wow.

The FAA demonstrated an amazing act of government efficiency today!

I got one rating in the beginning of October and another just over 3 weeks ago (23 days, to be exact). Judging by the FAA Registry web site, I was expecting to get one shiny new pilot certificate this week, and another in about 6 more weeks.

But today, I got *one* new certificate that says Commercial Pilot, Airplane Single & Multiengine Land; Instrument Airplane. :)

Now, if they can process everything in 3 weeks like that - Why don't they do that ALL the time? :dunno:

Kewl.

Question: How was the old plastic holding up? Mine is dated April 07 and is already starting to show an awful lot of wear. I finally cut a folded bit of tyvek put it in.

True, my wallet tends to be a gritty, hostile place, but the drivers license and credit cards seem to hold up much better.

They seem to be getting a lot better about getting the cards out quick. After I changed my address in Sept I got the new ones (all three on the same day) within 2.5 weeks!! It was only slightly longer for the added type rating, only a shade under 4 weeks. When I got my private back in '03, I almost ran out of time on the temporary before getting the real deal.

I got my Instrument Instructor ticket in ten weeks. It was submitted via IACRA.

At the beginning of this year, my CFI inital took only five weeks to show up. It was submitted via paper 8710.

Tell me if this makes sense?

Did my CFI renewal last week of October. No replacement plastic yet.

My old one (about 2 1/2 years old FWIW) was mainly gathering black gunk from the inside of my (black) wallet. It sure did like to stick to stuff! But there weren't layers coming off it or anything like that.

And it sure held up a lot better than the good ol' paper one it replaced!
