Ran across this forum looking for information on some aircraft, and really liked what I saw: an aviation forum that didn't look totally dead.

So, I'm a newly minted CFI in Greenwood IN. I was lucky enough to have about 35 hours in the plane (PA-28-RT-201 Arrow IV - I have about 16 the IV and probably 20 in a II) I took it in so I think I really lucked out on that.

I haven't managed to find any students yet, unfortunately. I'm about 3 semesters from finishing my bachelor's degree, and outside of the local university - which, understandably, won't work around my school schedule, the flight training around me is pretty slow going.

Not really sure what else to say here, so I'll post the logbook entry that always turns some heads.

I got to take a 1927 Ford 4AT Trimotor for a lap around the pattern at one point. It was a real trip; but I would never want to sit in a plane vibrating that much for as long as the original pioneers did it.

But I know I have a lot to learn and I look forward to reading and hopefully getting to contribute something here and there.

The amazing thing about those trimotors is how FN slow they were.

You could outrun one -- easily -- in a 172. You could keep up in a 152.

We had one giving rides around the local area at San Carlos, CA a few months ago. A really cool sight.

It was slightly shocking because, with 10 people in the back, we had a Cessna 152 ask if he could overtake.

Welcome to POA Anthony8822! I flew SIC on the Trimotor when it was here giving rides. That was pretty cool.

Good luck on finding a few students. They are probably out there if you can just make connections.

Welcome to the joint. It can get pretty rambunctious but there's a lot of good stuff and you have a lot of fellow CFI's here. I stumbled across it like you a couple years ago.

Welcome!

Do you have your own plane?

Unfortunately no! I would be up for a partnership on a Cherokee 180/Cardinal or maybe something like a Comanche 180/Arrow II/something like that but I've got no friends who are interested - and the ones who are, are too underqualified to get insured.

But my father was a pilot and with the medical reform finally passing, he may way to get something along the lines of a Lance to get back and forth to his vacation house - and I'm sure I'd have access to it!
