New Aviation Store in Chicago Area

Good luck to them, though I will not be shopping for anything in the Chicago metropolitan area during Daley's political lifetime.

As I said this store is in another town and has NOTHING to do with generating revenue for Daley.

Daley is the Mayor of Chicago. This store is in the town of Bessenville.

KORD is in Bessenville? Looks like this store is just outside of KORD.

No KORD is in Chicago. Chicago has a limit of demarcation commonly known as a border. On the other side of that border is another town. In this case that other town is called Bessenville :D:D

KORD is really an island of Chicago. The real city is all east of KORD. There is a thin strip of land that then extends westward and then becomes the airport. But just off of the airport are the suburbs.

This store is across the street from ORD and thus across the street from Chicago.

From the looks of it I would have to go through Chicago to get to it, and will therefore not be visiting during Daley's political lifetime. I keep my vows, no matter how rash or impetuous.

Hey jump in your 140 land at 06C, 3CK, 10C, KDPA, KLOT, KJOT, etc. You don't have to fly into ORD!

It is actually in the town of Bessenville so no worries Daley making any tax money.

Not to be pedantic, and I agree that it is not in Chicago, but it isn't in Bessenville, either. In fact, I've never heard of Bessenville. It's actually located in Bensenville.

But I may stop in and give them a chance. I needs a new logbook! (Note, though, that it is still Cook County, so you will have horrendous sales taxes.)

I got a 10% off coupon for the Saturday Grand Opening. If I get the paper I am working on started I may take some time to go visit them.

I'm going (sim) flying Saturday afternoon, or I'd join you. The 10% coupon will cover the Stroger tax! :)

I happened to drive by that store on Wednesday. I wondered if it was a Pilot shop or something else. I wish them the best of luck, as it will be tough to make it in that location.

Typically one thinks of a pilot shop being on an airport and co-located with the FBO.

That is what I thought too. I am wondering if they will also be catering to the part 121 crowd. There are a couple of stores around ORD that sell stuff that aircrews like, luggage and stuff. I would think that most of the 121 crowd has access to getting other things through their work. I thought a better location for this store would have been near PWK. I also understand that they are part of a chain that has an Internet presence. But I have never heard of them before.

Sounds like it's near Schaumberg airport.
It is right across the street from ORD.

I went the weekend it opened. It had the usual selection of the stuff albeit in greater quantities. But it also had lots of clothes, books, models, and other types of aviation gift/interest items. The Grand Opening was well attended with a cookout happening and a raffle (which it appears I did not win). Lot sof stuff but exactly in the neighborhood for me. I wish them luck.
