Just got my plane back from central Florida avionics after a gfc-500 install. Rarely have my high expectations been met as well, both with the work they did and the AP itself. Outstanding.
Anyway, after flying home I called them with a gripe. There’s some shhhh sound going on that gets worse with speed. Verified it wasn’t the headset. Verified it only happened on the pilot side (they wired in a PTT so I suspected something might have gone wrong there) They shrugged and said bring it in for a listen.
When I had a chance I took the plane up again for a more focused debug session. Without the distraction of a new toy to play with I immediately figured out that somebody bumped the pilot side squelch all the way up. I was hearing my own mic. Duh.
