Looking fo a manual on the use of the old military cpu-26a navigation computer
Out of curiosity, what was it used in?
Smart-butt!
Smart-butt!
Given "CPU" is part of the ID, I took it to be electronics.
Oh, I didn't catch that. Mike, Welcome!EDIT: I just noticed this was Mike's first post here. Welcome to the board.
That is a miltary joint nomenclature designation. Does nto mean Central Processing UnitSmart-butt!

CPU is Air Transportable, Human Portable, Multi-Use device. This is from the old designations.
Only since 1957. A lot of stuff was grandfathered in. Even then things such as cryptograph paddles are part of the AN systems and they are not electronic as are a few other things. I'll bet the ole E6B is grandfathered in. I used all three letters BTW not just the first. But it could also be that the first two, CP, apply as under the old system prior to Mil-Std-196 that would be for computer. It is very likely an old designation as it failed to be preceded by the AN/ which would show it in compliance with the newer system put in place in 1957.That list is for electronic devices, anyway.
