Well, once again the normally sorta quiet Las Cruces airport has been invaded by the US Navy. Usually in the spring NAS Corpus brings a training squadron of T-34's out here for training. This is the first time they have shown up in the Fall. There are about 30 or so aircraft on the ramp when they are not flying. I had students in the pattern with them this morning, civilians are flying left traffic and the Navy is flying right traffic to the same runway. Sounds scary, but it works out really well. They get to "wave off" a lot for us since they are a lot faster than the mighty 172. Been trying to bum a ride in the T-34, but no luck yet. I almost made it last spring when a Major came up while my student was preflighting and mentioned he would like to take a ride in the 172. I told him no problem I will take him up in a 172 and he can take me in the T-34. He just laughed and said, "wish I could"
Here is a couple of pics I took with my cell phone this morning.

Sigh. Drool.

But if we can't have the T-34s, we'll just be happy with our 172s anyway.
