Narco AT 150 Troubleshooting

Afternoon,

Looking for some troubleshooting advice on an older Narco AT 150. Transponder stopped working (ATC can't pick it up) and the interrogation light is continually illuminated. We've tried the old pull it out of the rack and reinstall to no avail.

Any troubleshooting ideas?

Unfortunately without any test equipment there is not much you can do. Does it have a separate encoder? If so you can see if that is still connected and secure but can't think of anything else at the moment.

If only there were a business that specialized in troubleshooting and repairing avionics...........................
 
NARCO troubleshooting? If it's giving you trouble then take it out and shoot it.
 
Replace the unit ,there’s no support basically for narco products.
 
Pull the unit. Clean the contacts with contact cleaner and a non-abrasive scrubby (chunk of blue sponge).
Check/clean the coax connectors. Check/clean the antenna paying particular attention to any ground issues at the antenna and tray.

A couple years back I bought a used unit on eBay for $200 as a backup--mine was operating fine. Guy was doing a panel upgrade and replacing all his legacy instruments. Promised it worked when he removed it. I slid mine out, slid his in, and went for a flight. Worked just like mine, and my tailBeacon liked it too. Landed, carefully wrapped it, boxed it, and stored for the future. YMMV.

Probably not, though it would have been a nice coincidence. I bought it in 2019 from eBay dealer "flyingcolorairparts2014" with 99.6% positive over 3029 ratings. They are in Leesburg, FL
