The PA-29 Papoose came years later. It was a two-seater prototype of the early 1960s, intended to replace the Colt as the company's trainer competition against the C-150. The PA-29 airframe was made of a composite material that turned out to be not ready for prime time - or even direct sunlight. The project was abandoned. Piper's flight school network needed a trainer ASAP, so they stripped down the existing four-seat Cherokee 150 and called it the Cherokee 140.It’s the Piper that was made from a Corsair drop tank. I forget the model name, might have been the Papoose.
