I have a log home; the wood of the log is the interior wall.
23 years ago, it was coated during construction with an odorless, clearcoat system which has stood up amazingly well. It protected the wood from sink-splash, fingerprint oils etc etc.

Now I need to find that, or something like it and don't know where to start - as I am doing some interior work.

All I have is the description I wrote above, plus the fact that the coating is flat (non-gloss) - you can't hardly tell it is on the wood.

What are some possibilities? It is not like polyurethane (it had no odor; we moved right in as it was drying).

There are some clear ceramic coatings that might fit the bill.
 
Are you sure that the stain finish was satin to begin with? over time a satin finish will dull to appear like a flat finish.

We have a log home also; it has been featured in log homes illustrated. sashco log stain was used on our home. on our rental cabins i found another stain that I really like. it's messmers timberflex, really good stuff. messmers timberflex comes as a 2 stage but I have had good results with just applying the first stage.
 
Are you sure it was a "clear coat" and not a stain. When we first bought our log home it was black on the front from the nearby traffic. I planted trees in the front and then bought acid from the local pool store and washed it and then re-stained it. No coating, and it still looks great 20 years later.
 
I’ll see if there’s any leftover stuff next time I’m at our cabin. I can’t remember what they used
