Would one of you guys switch pictures for Murphy's sake! I'm a little in the dark too, unless the thought is that there are only 100 universities in the world. My Google-fu says there are about 9000 universities globally. Being better than Umbufu U in Inner Eastern West Bumphuck Outer Mongolia is nothing to crow about. Being better than many of the established universities in Europe certainly is.

The database, World of Learning, lists well over 30,000 institution of higher learning world wide.

Your Google-fu is not the problem,. but Google itself is not always the most reliable and best source of information.

Additionally CollegeSource online, another detailed database, provide college catalogs for over 40,000 4 year and 2-year institutions.

ASU ranking
ASU is ranked 121st of 262 "national universities" by the 2010 US News and World Report ranking of US colleges and universities (58th among public universities); and, for the second year in a row, ASU was ranked as one of the top five "Up and Coming" universities in the US, for substantial improvements to academics and facilities.[41] In addition, ASU is ranked 93rd in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities, is included in the Fiske Guide to Colleges, and was named as one of "America's Best College Buys" by Forbes magazine.[42

Rankings are always hard to understand when someone just makes a blanket claim. Is ASU the 121 best or the 58th? Depends on the definition.

"the"?

But I'm an engineer, so my English skills are suspect.

ding ding ding, we have a winner.

I guess with proper grammar not being important anymore not many people would really notice. :mad2:

We are probably just used to instructions written in other countries since we seem to manufacture little in our own country anymore. Who says English doesn't evolve?

Evolve like this?

What's the difference between evolving and self destructing?

I can easily read and understand hand written notes that people wrote in English well over 100 years ago. I can't say the same about notes written by hand or on computers by people in the last 5 years. Handwriting is turning to illegible scribbles - even to the people writing them. Grammer and word useage today is atrocious. Twenty years from now is going to be very amusing at this rate.

Aviation weather raw text reports are far more readable than some of the notes that I've seen lately.

lovin' is a "contraction" for loving.

I think poets are to blame.

O'er, ne'er, et al.

Maddox pointed this one out:

"i am loving it" is an anagram for "ailing vomit" which sounds about right for their food.
