I'm thinking of taking my 12y son to Universals Wizard World in a few weeks.

Anyone here have experience or suggestions regarding the park experience?
We're flying commercially :(

I was last there before the expansion. The expansion covers both parks so you would want the park hopper ticket or whatever it is called to get back and forth (as I understand it)

Where are you staying? We stayed at the Loews Royal Pacific - pretty handy - you could get to the parks by walking (long), water taxi (nice ride), rickshaw (they work for tips) or bus (didn't try that). No need for a rental car.

I'm still working on hotels, but sounds like on site is completely booked for our dates.

It is easy to get around Universal by car so not staying right on site is not a huge issue. Many of the area hotels have shuttles. If he is a HP fan...get a park hopper ticket to both parks, there is a HP land in each of the two Universal parks.

If you are just going for a day or a short trip, spring for the front of the line pass...we did one of the parks in half a day and hit all the major rides and were ready to leave by early afternoon.

good point about the front of line pass. regular admission is approx $65/day. The front of line pass doubles that. We have three days in the parks with hopper pass. So you feel the additional $$ is worth it for the front line pass?

Stay at a Universal hotel and you can get into one of the parks early.

I would check carefully about the head of the line passes - I doubt they would work for the harry potter areas.

Best advice probably comes from this guy: http://touringplans.com/universal-orlando/touring-plans

When are you going?
