I've been travelling a lot for work lately, so been spending quite a bit of time in Ubers. It also means that I'm doing a lot of drives to/from the airport (ATL).

I started thinking (rare event) that I could get set up as an Uber driver and when I get ready to go to/from the airport, I could turn on the Uber Driver app and see if anybody was looking for a ride in the direction I'm headed and maybe offset the cost of gas for those trips.

Anybody with Uber experience have any insight into the feasibility of this plan?

Does your employer not pay mileage to/from the airport since that’s not your normal workplace?

I’d take an uber and expense it before I’d drive for them.

Nope. Airport is between me and the office, so no "beyond the distance to the office" for me. The gas money isn't a big deal. Moreso a random "huh.. here's an idea..." while in the back seat of an Uber in Tampa right now.

I’d still take an Uber and expense it, otherwise you’re going to expense parking or write it off as unreimbursed business expense.

I expense the parking.
