Pre purchase inspection came back today and it was positive.
So it's mine now. 3rd time is the charm I guess. I learned a lot throughout this process.

In my price range, I should have been more prepared for some disappointments before finding a fit. Two long XC trips to look planes that were total misleading disasters

I am really grateful for this forum and its members willing to help a pilot out.

Now on to the Grumman porn.
It is a traveler w/ the 160 HP Piston STC, 880# useful, new paint, century 1 autopilot, some very crusty old avionics that will be replaced, engine has had a lot of work and appears to have been addressed properly and my independent inspector gave it the thumbs up. 4 shoulder harnesses which I like.

Some interior plastic in the back that needs replacing. He threw in 2 david clark headsets and a Garmin Aera 560.

Paperwork is done, money is wired, and I bought a tail number w/ my kids birth dates and initials. The Seller's son has a vinyl sign shop and already printed me out the new tail number.

I get to fly my own plane to Gaston's this year and not have to get picked up at Mountain Home and bum a ride to 3M0 :)

Glad it worked out for you, anytime up in the area, meet up for a couple of beers. It is a beautiful plane.

Congrats! And it's even got an ISO switch, too. That'll come in handy for when you put the kids in the backseat. :)

I've never seen an IDENT switch on the yoke horn before. Fascinating.

Don't ever skip the run-up. Because you start on the left mag, it can be easy to forget to switch it back to both if you are in a hurry after a quick turn (at least for me it was).

Will the new tail number be 4" high like the old one?

I think your patience and persistence was rewarded.
That's one fine lookin' plane (even if it is sorta Cowboys colours ;) ).
Love the new tail number...as you feed your new aviation habit you can tell everyone you are "spending money on the family" :thumbsup:

You'll have fun exploring how it's set up, what it'll do in the air and how you are going to further personalize it. No matter how nice the Cirrus is, I am quite certain you will find it just does not quite compare to owning your own plane. Congrats!

Got to admit, I don't think I have ever seen a "back up" for an avionics master switch before. :idea: :)

So, does this mean we can no longer make fun, err, critique you as a Cirrus pilot?
 
From another Ohioan congratulations, this is a nice surprise and that's a nice looking birdie. I can foresee (hope for) some "getting acquainted" vids in the future.

Baffling looks new - that's always good.
Now get ye to Grumman Gang and also get familiar with Fletchair for all your parts and service needs (right there in TX). Who's been servicing up to now?
Watch your speeds on final lest ye float.
 
Nice AA5 Bryan! Cool paint scheme. I owned a Traveler for 2 years. No surprises. Check the landing gear brackets where they meet the tubular spar. Popular area for corrosion if it hadn't been looked after. 18-20 lbs friction on the nose wheel or she'll shimmy bad. Electric flaps are nice. Just count to 8 and they'll be full down. I'd look at getting the tail beacon STC. Had it done on mine and it looked much nicer with the red enclosure.

A man of your discerning taste would be expected to have one or two of his "pleasures of the older woman" series in your collection, in support of a fellow PoAer who'll shortly be shelling out AMUs for new avionics. ;)

There are some interesting mods. I love the Yoke IDENT.
Let's see if I can find a pic of the passenger PTT switch... 1 sec.
 
Passenger PTT switch. I am not sure why and I don't yet have feelings about it but it is unique.

I told the seller after it was almost a done deal that I love that he picked cowboys color scheme.
He asked if I wanted him to print out a big star. I thought about it but the paint job is pretty classy IMO and I don't want to mess with it.
