Stop by, love smoresWill there be s’mores and sing alongs?
I think the rules are way out of line and appear to me to be 100% for the benefit of the company. They are not doing this because they care about the people. It is all about keeping production going.Such valor. It sucks to have rules for a job, I guess. You think these days are easy for the company? I bet not.
edit: the wife thinks I should stay home. I can't do that I need to make a living for the family and pay bills

I understand it. Nobody wants to dip into their cash reserves to pay bills. Once you pull money out of the bank it’s a lot harder to put it back in.These two statements seem to contradict one another. That said, sorry you're on the hot seat to make a choice that is unpalatable either way.

I figured anything more than a cabin without power/running water would be nice for you Alaskan types. Seems like you all want deluxe hotels and luxury living for some reason. LOL Gettin' old?
The vast majority of rules in place at the vast majority of companies are 100% for the benefit of the company.I think the rules are way out of line and appear to me to be 100% for the benefit of the company.
Understood, I hope everyone walks away from this tragedy without loosing their life savings. Thank you for your comments. Boat leaves 5pm, so far I'll be on it...Bill, My perspective is one of being the employer. I'm trying to find ways to keep my staff employed with a big reduction in business and trying conditions. Our doors are locked but the phones are on. They aren't ringing. Employers are trying to figure out how to keep revenue flowing and people working with the hope that this is a short term problem. We want to be ready for the rebound of the economy. Good people have been hard to find for the past year. Once things return to normal it'll be worse. Do what you want but be mindful that your employer is in a tough spot. And I'll bet there are lots of guys who'll take your job right now so you aren't in a position of strength. Best wishes. Stay healthy.
So then you agree with my statement. The vast majority of rules in place at the vast majority of companies are 100% for the benefit of the company.
Your comment seemed to be a complaint. That you feel its unreasonable that a company has a rule that is 100% for their benefit. I was simply pointing that its pretty common for companies to do that.So then you agree with my statement.
No I agree it is common. Still doesn’t make it right or fair.Your comment seemed to be a complaint. That you feel its unreasonable that a company has a rule that is 100% for their benefit. I was simply pointing that its pretty common for companies to do that.
Lots of things in life aren't right or fair. You gotta play the hand that's dealt you.No I agree it is common. Still doesn’t make it right or fair.
Good luck and stay safe!Understood, I hope everyone walks away from this tragedy without loosing their life savings. Thank you for your comments. Boat leaves 5pm, so far I'll be on it...

Sounds kinda rough.well 12 1/2 hour days, camp food is good, the beds are not to my liking one bit. Internet is spotty. 6 foot separation rule, even on the bus up to the mine only 11 per bus. We take 6 buses up 7 min apart. It's not spring here 13F last night 21 tomorrow...
Not that bad, everyone making the best of it. 12 1/2 hour days for 28 days is going to bring in a good paycheck. The roughest thing so far is locking myself out of my room and having to climb thru the window to get in....Sounds kinda rough.
Couple pics showing a camp building,
You are not missing much on the 'outside' right now.
Wow - rigorous social distancing requirements! No door access - windows only! The roughest thing so far is locking myself out of my room and having to climb thru the window to get in....
Obviously, one can control some factors, and not others. I certainly have no immunity to lung cancer; both of my parents died from it. Not pretty. So are Type A blood types. Let’s not hire them.
You must be flying for Ward. Everyone at Ward Air are very nice and help out the GA folks when they can..I recognize that red building. Flown up Hawk inlet more than a few times. Admiralty Island (where the mine is) is one of the best places for brown bear sightings as it has one of the densest Grizzly populations in North America. Also an extremely scenic island to fly over and around. PIcture is just south of the mine over the center of the island. I'm Southbound with the mine off my right wing. View attachment 84710
Kotzebue sounds good, but....... That would mean I would have to stay in camp when I work.. Living in Juneau let's me sleep in my own bed, with out having to get dressed in the middle of the night to hit the head at the end of the 10x24 foot shipping container converted into a room...Maybe you should move to Kotzebue. I noticed that as a few days ago there are no cases of the virus there.
So far.
Hang in there, we are all in this together...

The folks that run the camp are very nice. Good food, keep the place very clean, change the sheets on the bed every week. But it is camp. There are several buildings that house everyone.
You have the Grand that is the newest building, very nice 2 beds. One for the day shift worker and one for the night shift worker.
Then you have the Hilton same as the Grand but the walls are not as noise dampened and the rooms are smaller
Then you have Tin can alley shipping containers made into rooms with bunk beds for temporary folks or overflow folks like me
Yah that took longer than expected. 3 months said and done from the purchase. But I did leave town for a couple of weeks during disassembly.Everyone at Ward is great, including the D.O. whom I know quite well. But I fly the PC12 at Seaplanes when the economy is normal. 7 years on Caravans before that for Seaplanes and Wings of Alaska. No summer visitors, no flying around Juneau so far this year.
I used to walk back and forth between the Wings hangar and the terminal. I watched you take that Musketeer apart little by little everyday as I'd walk by.
Thanks, I've only been home for a day and I slept most of that day away. Have not ventured out yet. Today might include a trip to the hangar to organize and put up shelves, while sipping whiskey and beer..Glad you get a break for a bit, Bill.
Enjoy the weird outside world.
