My Airventure '07 Breezy video

That does look fun. I think I'd be wearing a full face helmet--bugs would HURT at flying speeds! :)

Believe it or not: not one bug on that flight. I was almost disappointed. :D
The key things seem to be: wear goggles, and of course keep your mouth shut. A friend of mine took a large insect of some kind right in the back of the throat once while cruising on a motorcycle at highway speed... that must have been way up there on the "unpleasant" scale.

Nice Sean! Perfect music too!

I rode in one once. First and last time. Wish I would have had my own stick. And it was so...breezy!!!!

What was it that made it your last? Was it too open and exposed? I gotta imagine the feeling that you could just "fall off" could be very pronounced to some folks.

Yes, wazzupwiddat? :dunno:

Was it the plane, or the flying?
I'd have taken you for the Breezy type.

Personally, I was alarmed only for a brief moment when I first sat in the thing and thought "Holy cow, the whole airplane is behind me!" It was just weird.

But once we started rolling, I was already in love. I'm not sure if there's another airplane with better visibility, gliders included... it's mind-blowing.

I didn't find it too windy; I'm also very fond of open-cockpit jobs... but I was surprised when we hit about 70mph on the approach... extremely breezy...

Sean, that is Arnie Zimmerman's Breezy (the "AZ" in N3AZ). He flies frequently out of my airport, and is a member of my EAA chapter 461. We was awarded the "FAA's Wright Brother's Master Aviator" award a year or so ago, and has given thousands of Breezy rides.

I'd have flown with him, but between the two of us, we don't quite make the weight and balance limits! :)

Yes, the name rings a bell... Arnie's the big guy, right? The pilot on my flight probably weighed less than I do.

Yeah, Arnie's not small. (I won't say he's big, because I just told him about PoA! :)) I didn't know that he allowed others to fly his Breezy!

I didn't have access to the controls if something happened to the pilot (a really old guy) and I couldn't climb over him if I needed to get to his controls.

And because there was no physical protection from the frame if we crashed. And because there was only a little flimsy seatbelt holding me onto a little stick and a little bitty seat while we were flying along. I'm a neurotic worrier (and afraid of heights). It was one of those things that was kinda fun to try, but I don't need to do it again (unless I can have access to the controls).

Very sensible. I've become less of a nervous passenger, possibly through acclimation (riding in all sorts of machines with total strangers)... or possibly because I'm just plain stupid. :D

You do know that Herb owns a share of a Breezy, right? Maybe some time when you're out this way you can get him to let you fly it.
But you'll have to get in line behind me... :D
