The last was something she said many times, that she wanted to live each day to its fullest and wanted all of us to as well. It's even in the story of the "Rose with Wings" Babes logo.

I think it's better for the wall at Oshkosh then "Living life to its fullest" (since it says flying) and it's so rooted to the Babes she helped to create.

I need to get back on the Babes Board but I can't remember my password there. :redface:

I got rid of the 'net at home and haven't been around much so I didn't see this until today, just now, and it makes me sooo damned sad to read this. She was a bright light and a talent in so very many disciplines and I was so very impressed by her, in so many ways.

The last time I saw her was at airventure a few years ago - we had lunch together, but it was cut short as I had to scoot back to the plane and get ready to fly out to make it aloft before the airshow started. I can still hear her voice in my head reminding me to call her when we landed back in NC so I could "close out my Moxie flight plan".

Here's one, Dave - That was also where I met you in person for the first time. Lance flew her in, I flew her home.

I'm probably a pilot today because my dad died of cancer...I used the money I got a few years back to finance my training, PPL thru Commercial.
 
Okay, I'm working with Tom Brunhart on the bio page that goes with the memorial. He's put together a start here, but we think it needs more about her flying activities. Tidbits to add? We have about 500 words to work with.

Nice start. A couple of typos here (quick glance). Is the "Brinck's" spelling correct? It's different than the "BRINK" in her name at the top...

Actually, it's incorrect at the top. It has a 'C' in it. There are a couple of other missing spaces, etc., too.

She was always an advocate to encourage and promote self awareness and confidence for women in all areas of life.

Barbara’s passion for life included music, piloting, art and her family: her daughter, Anna and her son Waylon Brinck.

Barbara graduated from Riverside High School (Milwaukee, WI) in 1969 and she received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin in 1976. Her love for all art was apparent in her desire to create. Her painting and art works are exhibited in many private collections throughout the country.

She founded Brinck’s Goldsmith Jewelry in Wauwatosa, WI and was sought after to create customized jewelry for clientele from across the nation for 10 years in the 80’s. But, her call to fly was more compelling than art.

She once said: “Flying is the closest I will ever come to immortality, to dance with the winds, and to see the stars at night, so close that I could almost reach out and touch them, truly it must be what was envisioned to be heaven.”

Moxie fought cancer for over 15 years. The disease brought her flying days to an end, but her spirit and carefree outlook on life endeared her to so many. At age 60 she awaits to greet us all.

It would be good if something, if ever so brief, could be written about her undeniable influence on empowering women in the male-dominated pursuit of aviation. The way she approached it was less a crusade, and more a relentless and inevitable force.

The kind of force that only a strong woman can apply.
 
Ya know....nothing says thanks for everything Moxie like your own intersection or waypoint. I think MOXIE would be just perfect in the greater MKE area. Arnav isn't showing it as active and I'll see if it's in the cue tomorrow. Can't imagine a name that good isn't on a chart somewhere. We'll see.

Just a question: Why is the word "in" following Wauwatosa, WI? It seems unnecessary. Read the line aloud and it doesn't sound correct.
Also, I believe the apostrophe should be removed from 80's. Plurality(of years) is referenced, not a possessive application.

I appreciate the editing for style and syntax, but I really want to incorporate additional AVIATION content and then proofread the result. Just seems more efficient that way.

Edit: Blanche and Mari, I did make the suggested changes, so they don't get lost.

MOXIE appears to be a SID waypoint just off the Pacific coast, south of LAX.

I find it when I search in ForeFlight, but don't find it on any if the SIDs. Do you know which one?

Edit: It looks like it is on the Senic One Departure (RNAV) for Long Beach.

My how the rules for getting an intersection or waypoint changed in just a few years.
I've made some inquiries about getting something named for Moxie and it's going to be a process.
I've got some letters to write but I know who I'm writing to well enough that maybe this'll work. The biggie is I have no assurance that the waypoint or intersection is going to be anywhere near where we'd probably like it to be.
Well, let's see how it goes.
