Yesterday, I found out my $145.00 a month tie down had gone up to $165.00 a month for my little Warrior PA28/161. I've been at that particular FBO at Montgomery Field for around three or four years, but I decided it's time to move on.

I found a great little tie down not too far away from where I was for only $100.00 per month. It's all paved and close to the runway, with a nice little FBO. Their gas is much higher than at my old place, but there is a self serve pump almost next door that is cheaper than both of them.

So I moved my bird over there this morning, I thought I would feel good about it, but I don't. Perhaps I'm at that stage in life where I just don't like any sort of change, I don't know.

It could be the economy forcing me to have to scrimp is what is bothering me, or perhaps it's that people know me at my old place, I don't know.

I'm sure I will get to like the new place in time, but right now, not so much.

Any of you guys experience this when moving to a new location?

John

New kid on the block syndrome ? I kinda know how you feel, I had pretty much had run of OKH, but BVS not so much.

At $165/mo for a tiedown, I'd have negative remorse and probably two fingers up as I taxiied away.

...and I *like* gibbs FBO :D

I drive a little further than I have to.. and pay just a tiny bit more than I have to.. just to cross paths with people that I like, and have the social aspect of flying that really means quite a lot to me.

As much as I like that aspect of things, $65 a month adds up to $780 a year. Invite folks out to dinner and you'll have a better time and still save a lot of money.

I get where you're coming from though. Very much so.
