Moo Moo Mooo

No more carry on bags in the overhead, you are the carry on.

I like it... no worries of someone reclining in front of me. The distance will always be preserved.

Could work out well if there is a stacked woman with a low cut shirt sitting under me! Of course my boner would be eye level to the Stewart's so that could get a little awkward.

I see they are still trying to find buyers for the A380!

Interesting concept, but it seems like it would add a lot of extra weight to the aircraft which would adversely impact the number of passengers they could carry.

How much reserve load does the A380 have?

EDIT: just read the full article....they are envisioning this a strictly a Business Class arrangement, not standard seating.

Wow. Great for people with limited mobility.
Some Nanny State Agency will make it illegal, because it "forces" the old and infirm to sit on the bottom. It will be the new "back of the bus".

Never understood the problem with the person in front of you becoming a little more comfortable. The tray is not affected by the reclining so what is the big deal?

I've never been air rage mad about it, but it can be annoying depending on what you're trying to do. If you're got a laptop out on the tray table, the table won't move but the reclined seatback will limit how far you can open the laptop. Even if you're just trying to read, the seat is now 3-4" closer to your face.

Most airline seats in economy don't recline much anymore anyway. Somebody (Spirit?) did away with reclining altogether to save the weight of the hinge mechanism.

No, no, no. That puts you at a 50% chance of your head being in the fart zone.

Going to be a real mess if the person above you get's air sick and leans over and lets go.

Actually, as the try is attached to the seat back, it does move closer to you. There are sometimes parts in the seat the move back as well, I've been hit in the knees several times by someone moving their seat back quickly.

However, the reclining is space most people consider "theirs" so I don't make a deal of it. Taller people have it worse. It would be nice to have hand-holds to make it easier to exit from behind fully reclined seat without disturbing the occupant. I like window seats, when the aisle occupant gets up, I try to make do my bathroom break then and it can be difficult to get out since the reclined seats are in the way- I wind up grabbing them to keep from falling because I don't always think to balance against my seat.

I want a bag of popcorn to watch some of the overweight air travelers clamber into those upper tier seats...

How tall are you? It doesn't make much difference if you have really short legs and you are myopic. I like to hold a book or a newspaper at least a foot or more in front of me. You can't always do that when the seat in front of you is reclined back.

6'1". :dunno:

If I can help the person in front of me be a little more comfortable how is that a bad thing? Nice to know so many people here could give a **** about their fellow passengers.

I wish they would do away with all carry on! In an emergency most people grand their luggage on the way out risking lives.

BTW, the tray is NOT connected to the back of the seat, it is connected to the chair.

These proposed seating diagrams are beginning to remind me of the old drawings of slave ships.

a) no average sized human can work on a laptop with a fully reclined douchebag in the seat in front of them.

b) I'm not enough of a douchebag to inflict that rude behavior on the person behind me

"The domino effect" doesn't excuse douchebags that INSIST on hitting that button.

We're not on commercial flights for "comfort" are we?

Agreed, it is not a bad thing, though those reclining their seats could help by reclining slowly. None of us have a lot of space in the back and a little patience goes a long way.

Disagree, although there is one person that posts here a lot that said he would do so.

I was wrong and you're right, at least in the pictures I've found on-line. It still moves with the seat back somehow since I've had the tray move while reading, and have had lap-top screens get stuck because someone dropped their seat back quickly. I do remember a recent trip when some kid was playing with the reclining seat in front of me so the tray kept moving as well.

As for the airbus design... you thought the unruly rugrat kicking you in the back was bad..... Now, if he's on the upper level, he can kick you in the head! Good times.
