Guess I'm canceling today's flight and anchoring down the yard furniture again

That's about like what I was flying in a few weeks ago. Rotten day to fly. I got enough crosswind landing practice in that day to last me a few months, not to mention my teeth getting shaken out from all the associated turbulence.

It calmed down down here, but those isobars are pretty close together. :D

Radio mentioned this morning to tie down the kids at the school-bus stop:

I don't see the symbol for that in your METAR:goofy:

Just looked out the window. Somewhat puzzled, the Blizzard warning seems a bit overdone:

Aww, come on man, that's just a standard day at BJC. If the stall horn doesn't flicker on departure then it'd be boring...

LOL ... was chatting yesterday with a friend of mine who flies a Challenger 300 out of BJC. He told me their wind restrictions are something like 60 knots down the runway, max demonstrated xwind is 28 knots, mostly because of the winglets. ... they don't scrub many flights for winds, even at BJC (altho winds at BJC are usually pretty close to down the runway - almost like somebody planned that!) :D

The problem with 60 knots down the runway is there's a long way between hangar and lined up for takeoff that present some direct crosswind angles.
