Memorials by Moonlight

Thanks! Yes, the moon was fantastic yesterday.

Yesterday morning I got an email from a friend who said he was heading down after work. I threw my gear in the car and after work met him down there.

Magnificent Photo's! Many Thanks for posting them!

Thanks! It was me, my camera, my tripod, and about 30 or 40 other photographers. I should have expected that!

I am sure ya'll are getting sick of my photos...

Anyone who complains about your photos should be beaten with a wet noodle.

Keep 'em coming! I always love seeing them, these are no exception.

+10

Although I must admit that looking at them also makes me fell less than adequate as a photographer. Elizabeth sure has an artist's ability when it come to photos.

What was funny is that I thought I'd be alone out there last night, and when I arrived (before sunset) there were tons of people, tripods, and some REALLY big lenses. It made mine look really puny. I mean, lenses that needed their own supports.

It is not how big your lens is, it is what you can do with it. :D :D ;)

They always do. One of my friends is a pro and he says the same thing. Massive amount of shots to get one or two.

And think about it before digital - all that film wasted. I would come home from trips, having shot maybe 25 rolls of film (an utter joke, since I can shoot a similar amount in a day now) and spend several hundred bucks developing them, and maybe I'd be lucky and maybe not.

Nice lens joke SCOTT!

Uhhhh.... right!

Nice pictures Elizabeth! And I love the one in your signature too!

Thanks! They like flashlights and laser pointers too. And wadded up tin foil. They "almost" will fetch for me - mostly to get me to throw the toy for them again. Most of the time they will watch my hand intently, run like hell after whatever I just threw, then reach it and bat it around for a while and wait for me to come get it and throw it again.

I saw the moon the other day from the back of an ambulance. It was spectacular. Thank you for taking pictures and sharing them with us. :)

I still don't have any decent moon shots yet. Sigh.

Yeah, when I went to South Africa 9 years ago now my mom bought me a Minolta 400si with some nice lenses to take with me. Only problem was I really hadn't a clue how to use the thing. Took 30 rolls of pictures, and very few of them were anything close to what my ex would get with her Nikon point-and-shoot I bought her last year.

I was a hard sell on the digital camera thing for a while, but now I love them. What I need to do is dump my HP point-and-shoot (junky camera that it is) for a Cannon or Nikon point-and-shoot that will actually take decent pictures.

South Africa three years ago and I carried an Olympus C-740 and my wife had a new flat, fit in your pants pocket, point and shoot. Her's was 5 Mpixel, mine 3.2 Mpixel. But mine has a 10x optical zoom lens. I'd really have fun now with my Sony A100 DSLR. I shoot and shoot and shoot, and don't have to worry about the cost of film and developing. I've had the Sony since Christmas 2006 and, even with what I know my wife paid for it, it has paid for itself by avoiding those costs.

I really like my Canon SD 800IS, and that was since superseded with the Canon SD 870IS, but I'm sure even that has been superseded now.

If the 870IS is still available, though, that would be the pocket camera I'd get right now.

The below were all taken with the point and shoot I mentioned above (800IS)
