Medical Flight Test needed PPL - questions

Hi guys, I am new to the forum so I hope to hear about you

I am Joan Aragones from Barcelona, Spain but currently working in UK and studying for the Private Pilot that I will do the exams in California next summer.

Let me explain my situation. I did the class three medical certificate in London last April and I received the answer a couple of months later saying that I didn't pass the medical certificate because I have a disability in my left hand and they requested more information about the problem. After double check with my doctor, I received the temporary medical certificate (attached) that it's requesting me do the the flight test. From here, I contacted with the FSDO in Orlando because I would like to do the flight test in Saint Augustine and currently I am talking with two Aviation Safety Inspector. The problem is that they are saying me opposite things. One of the them recommend me complete the flight test prior to investing any significant time and finances in flight lessons and that's exactly I would like do, it's logic, but the other one say me that first I have to learn to fly before do the flight test, I can understand this as well. I know I can start flight and my training and the only thing that I can not do is the solo flights even though my medical certificate says "valid for flight test only" but in that moment I am a lost. I would like to do that before start my exmans in order to come with a clean certificate.

I've got the letter of authorisation from my doctor and I am just waiting to get the student certificate that I applied via IACRA website in order to request the Letter of authorisation from the FAA that it will allow me request the flight test. But I am not sure if I have to fill in the LOA form to send but I don't know send where exactly.

I would think the person giving the exam could walk you through the start procedure and show you a few basic maneuvers and have you do them and see whether your disability is a problem or not. I have no experience in these matters.

So, you have to come to the U.S. to get your medical straight? Then come back to the U.S. again to do your training? That is unfortunate.
