Maybe a tad overpriced?

Yea I would said he fat fingered the number. Even 39k is too much for that airplane. It does have low time engines but the dated panel, paint, and interior is going to make it a tough sell.

I can't speak to the value of the aircraft but, in terms of typographical errors, an extra zero would be more common than an added first digit, unless the added first digit was a "4;" an unshifted "$" on a standard keyboard.

It's either a big typo or the dude thinks it's made of gold. Good luck with that one.

Hey I know that plane! I know the mechanics that work on it too. My guess is the owner's SO wants them to sell it but they don't want to so they just listed it for an exorbitant cost.

Based at BJC.

Exactly!

I bet you're right on that.

Somehow, a 150 hp Apache does not sound like the best choice for someone living in Colorado.

There was a sad old Apache dying on the ramp until last month. The owner took the engines and props -- and walked away, about three years ago.

Incredibly, an eccentric fellow has bought the carcass for scrap value, found engines for cheap (supposedly crated, in Alaska), and is attempting to resurrect the old gal. I have never seen a turd so furiously polished, but he hopes to put it on floats and fly it around the world.

If it happens, it will be an amazing rebirth of a very rough Apache.

Would be interesting for me at 39,000.. The 150hp engines have an STC (sticker) available for auto fuel so it wouldn't be so bad to feed.

You could get an older Cessna 310 or Aztec for close to that money. I don't know if you've read any of his pireps, but he said of the 150 hp Apache, "I wouldn't touch a 150 hp with somebody else's ten-foot pole".

Can't say I would either, frankly. I could get a single that will just about provide an equal amount of performance for the price of an apache. Personally, It's just a fair twin to say at best, OEI performance stinks. The best intro twin is the seminole IMO.

Rare to hear someone praise a Seminole.

Most folks feel that the Duchess is a much better and more useful entry level twin. I'd take a Duchess over a Seminole any day.

I've never flown a duchess. The best multi I've ever flown is a T310R, but I can't quite say thats an entry level aircraft ;)

The Duchess is actually a very nice airplane for what it is. Comfortable, easy to fly, pretty decent OEI performance and capable of carrying a pretty good load at 150 kts on 20gph.

Only downside is that there weren't that many built so it can be hard to get ahold of one due to the flight school demand.
