Map App for iPAD?

I just bought a 3G iPAD, but dont have much need for data service. (I bought the 3G version for the GPS chip, to run Foreflight and have my position displayed on the charts). I see that the Map function included with the iPAD requires data service.

I was wondering if there is an App available with roads/addresses data that would work with the internal GPS chip (like Foreflight does with aviation charts), so that I could use the device as an automobile GPS when in a rent car away from home?

I've heard really good things about MotionX GPS HD, and it says it can download maps for offline access.

Caveat: I have data service on my iPad, so I've never used MotionX.
