Hi

I thought I'd post this query here since I know we have people who travel a lot or live there.

I am heading to NYC with some foodie friends soon for a short wkd (defined as up one morning and back the next after brunch).

They are big-time foodies so a splurge is what we are looking for. We already know about Per Se and are considering it. Looking for others a few notches below that as well.

We have the NYTimes list.

One caveat - I am NOT a seafood fan so it would need to be a place that doesn't specialize in seafood.

Thanks everyone.

All of these require reservations. Most require reservations long in advance. Call now if you know the dates.

Le Bernardin. Frequently rated the very top restaurant in Manhattan. Specialty is seafood but you have never had seafood like this before.

Lambs' Club. Used to be a private club for actors, etc. now open to the public. Good food, great decor.

Seasonal. Awarded a Michelin Star, a first for Manhattan.

Park Avenue (Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn). The restaurant changes menus, decor, and name four times a year.

Bar Americain. Not as Haut (or as expensive) as the above, but Danny Meyer puts out great food.

11 Madison.

Gramercy Tavern.

Edit: I almost forgot! A real sleeper is The Modern, which is part of the Museum of Modern Art. They have a cafe area right next to the bar, but further back and facing the glass windows onto the courtyard is The Modern full service restaurant. REALLY good food!

Enjoy!

Meh NY Food scene. What do they know, they put ketchup and sauerkraut on hotdogs and serve a grease laden baked cheese thing as pizza.

Meh right back. If you think that's the best you can get for NY food, your palate is somewhere immediately west of the Hudson, and your mouth was open while swimming the river.... :wink2::wink2::cheerswine:
