Cleared for Takeoff
It seems that some aviation magazines start sending renewal notices almost a year ahead of time. They offer great "savings" but want to use my money for 9-10 months before the old subscription runs out. Good grief! The magazine could fold by then (or I could die).
Most of us respond to a renewal notice by thinking, "I'll take care of that now and not worry about it" but when the lead time is nearly a year that seems to be stretching things.
Some charities use the technique of our automatic response by sending out multiple solicitation letters at times when we are thinking about charitable tax issues. I caught a college I give to doing that and also a local public TV network.
I guess the necessity to actively manage (check the subscription end date, last donation, etc.) is must another requirement to stay ahead of people who use human nature to their advantage.
What's wrong with notifying me 90 days before the subscription runs out?
