I finally got a good day to fly so I loaded up my gear and headed for the Buckeye, AZ. airport where N9054N was tied down. I fueled the plane checked her over and away we went. I was flying alone and I had the route all set in my GPS. I had to cross the Colorado River on my way to St. George, UT. I took a couple video shots as I flew over. I will try to get them posted one day. I fueled up at St. George and took off heading North I had to go a little west here because of some low clouds and some tall country. I had to fly less than straight path because of some MOAs in this area. I stopped again in Ely, NV. so that I would have enough fuel to make it all the way to S49 Vale, OR. The wind had the sock standing straight out a Ely, but it was straight down 36. I took off and flew over Elko, Nv. and then on to the home airport. It was between 6-7 hours of flying with a head wind the whole way. I had a great time in AZ. with my son and grandson. I did some flying with my grandson as he wants to learn to fly, we had a nice flight up to Sedona, and down to Marana. I put 54november in the hangar and said thanks for getting me home safe and sound. LIFE IS GOOD. Bob

Very cool, Bob! Ain't GA great? You probably got home faster than the airlines would have done for you, too. :D

Sounds like you had a great trip, Bob!

Maybe. I dropped off Leslie at St. Petersburg around noon. She took a cab to Tampa Int'l while I had lunch. I didn't get to Chicago until 11:30. She was already pulling up at the door in Chicago when I was departing my fuel stop in TN. There are times the airlinescan be faster, especially if the end points are near hubs.

That said, she'd much rather have been able to go GA with me!

Ah, but if you were in a hurry and packed your lunch and made the fuel stop as quick as possible...

I'm guessing she had no layover anywhere? That certainly stacks the deck against GA.

I'm pretty sure I could have gotten home from Houston just as fast in the 182 as I did on AA.

Edit: In Bob's case, I'm not sure what the closest airline airport to him is. It might be Portland. If so, he got home faster in the 182 than he would have even if he teleported from PHX to PDX. That's a lot of driving added on to both ends!

Actually I am only about one hour from Boise Idaho for commercial flights, so that is a lot closer than PDX. Bob
