Lucky guy got to fly formation with an F16 today!

I saw this and can't imagine how bad he is going to hear it from those at his school. How bad can you F-up with a TFR? This bad.

I would have been dreading that landing. You just know there were people on the ground waiting on him.
 
See, only incompetent dunces violate TFR's. Sarcasm, of course.

The reality is that very proficient pilots, with much experience, will overlook what seems to be a minor paper work step, and get into trouble. Did the Army provide a GPS with TFR capability? Did it fail to update? Did they get a briefing before launching down the river on a standard flight pattern? If so, did the briefer fail to notify him of the local Notice To Airman? Did they file a VFR flight plan, and get it accepted by an FAA person who should have advised that the plan would violate the TFR?

There are a lot of questions here, and it might not be primarily the instructor's failure.

I know that every one of those has happened in the Washington DC airspace, to pilots that I have talked to following the event.

I have a lot of sympathy for all who are responsible for this happening, and it is clear that they did not do it on purpose.

What I found odd was that the awkwardness in the controller and CAP trying to work out an intercept. The requests for BRA was kinda interesting too.
 
Good thing they weren't trying to shoot him down, since they couldn't even find him flying along the middle of the river. The common theme in most of these audios is the invader is the last one to know he's being intercepted.

I'm not sure the UN General Assembly deserves a TFR.

Those Army guys are reportedly pretty good at camouflage.
 
All he had to do was turn off his transponder, evade the F 16 by flying under a bridge, and then claim it broke..................... :)
 
Beyond Direction, Range, Altitude, do you think he is doing anything the controller is telling him?

His climb back to his CAP circle, and location of his circle is exactly what he tells the controller, that poor guy has to alter the route of any airliner in the way.

Apparently all he had to do to evade the F16 was fly at constant altitude down the middle of the river.
 
With the speed difference issues with fighters, they should just use Apaches to enforce the TFR / ADIZ. Go Army! Beat Army!
