Just been wondering Are there any currently made, Ultralight or LSA with enclosed pilot seating that are already assembled new for under $15000.00 out there? I’ve seen some that are discontinued that looked like an actual aircraft such as a small C150, not skeleton frame and not open pilot seating, which most seem to be these days. Or for that price one would need to build a kit and or buy pre assembled used these days? For example, one such as I have attached photo of.

I asked since this article I came across.. said the Sparrow ultralight is $11500.00. But I don’t seem any info where it is still produced. https://aerocorner.com/blog/cheapest-ultralight-aircraft/

The problem with the internet is that there are websites that recirculate articles that are years old with years old prices . They look like current articles, but who knows how old they are. Click bait bonanzas.

wait, a bonanza for $15,000?
I am sure if you searched long enough, you could find a very old article on the internet where a brand new Bonanza was $15k. You will have to fight off all the pop up ads to see it.

This one isn't new, has a two stroke engine, but it is an ELSA (means a 16 hours course will allow you to do the condition inspection). A Challenger can be a fun airplane to fly but they, like all aircraft, have things that need to be known and accepted. But FWIW:

CHALLENGER 2 LONG W 503 DCDI • $14,999 • FOR SALE TO THE HIGHEST OFFER • Challenger 2 LW 503 Low time light sport exper. Has recessing 100 hour inspection and flying daily. It has the fiber glass kit. Nose cone, wing caps and many extras. Valid point. I did come across some posts on here from 2021 about someone who said they purchased the company that made the sparrow ultralight and he planned to make them again… but haven’t found anything current. He also said he owned the company that manufactured the mini max. But who know if as you said it was just internet clickbait

This is the cheapest factory built truly SLSA airplane with a decent engine on it that I have been able to find. I called the dealer to make sure it wasn't an old advertisement, but they said it is the current price. It is still a lot more $ than your target, but have you seen the price of new slsa lately?

I have not, brand new to learning about all this, hence my thinking the prices were around the 10k mark, not realizing it was truly old info. Thank you for the link and verifying

FWIW, it is still possible to buy a used, airworthy lsa spec airplane under $15k, especially if you are willing to buy one with some of the unconventional converted automotive engines. I have seen Avid fliers with Subaru engines, even Kitfox II's and others. They might be experimental amateur built, but as long as the specifications meet the light sport rules, you can fly them with a light sport license.

That is an amazing price $59k for a factory built SLSA the wings fold put it in a trailer. Looks like they haven't raised their price in years I found a video on YouTube from 2010 it is mentioned the cost is under 60k. The Bushcat similar design wings don't fold I think the Bushcat little more expensive.

The OP link most of those are kits which you could build and get flying under 15k the air bike LS kit is around $8k engine likely only a few grand. Kind of like that Air bike LS be perfect for warmer climates.

15 grand for something reliable to fly ,I doubt you can find one,if you do please post.
