I just briefly looked at the website and at the BPPP (Beech Pilot Proficiency Program). A few days ago I heard that you can get insured as PIC with lower time mins after completing the program.

Has anyone heard of this or is anyone more familiar with the program and dealing with insurance?

Haven't done it yet, but Yea, I have heard that some carriers will give you a break if you complete the program.

Yes you can , if you have a CFI with subtantial Bonanza etime you can also work with the underwriter on a course that covers most of the same material...I have successfully placed new bonanza owners into reasonable polices with a 10 hour course instead of 25 hours dual etc....an Inst rating and 100 hours TT are the main factors in lowering the cost and ease of insuring.

Thanks. I'm just trying to get named on the insurance policy but they want a couple hundred more hours from me even with 500TT, 100 turbine PIC, 100 complex, 75 HP, and more than 15 in type. I figure this program might put me just over the line to get on the policy. I'll get together with the underwriter to see what he thinks or suggestions he might have.

I had less than that....and needed 5 hrs of dual and another 5 solo to carry pax. I'm listed with Old Republic Ins Co.....

It really shouldn't be that big a deal.

I wish it wasn't a big deal but it's insurance being insurance.

This UW is a total douche...I would call him....the market is very soft right now...that is absolute lunacy if a human is denying you.

Just out of curiosity, what do you have turbine PIC that is not HP?

You'll get a discount from your first 100 hr premium hit, the insurance requirements will be the same. Not all companies care.

This. I had about 600TT and no time in type when I bought the Baron. All I needed was 3hrs dual with a sign off.

That sounds about like what I needed when I bought one with no time in type. I really can't see the BPPP helping that much. It sounds like the OP's aircraft owner's insurance company really doesn't want his business that badly. He probably needs to do a little shopping.

I bought my Comanche with no retract/HP time and 220 TT. All my insurer wanted was 10 hours in type. They did charge accordingly but even that was barely over 2k with 3 IFR pilots

Is this for a commercial (passenger carrying) high limit policy ?

There may be an upcharge to add a pilot with only transition training hours, but it shouldnt be a 'no can do'.

Insurers like BPP because it is a structured program (just like some give credit for CSIP training on a Cirrus).

Ha. Yeah, you would think 1,200hp would count as 201+. Make that 175 on the time.

Thanks everyone and it does involve passengers (not my personal aircraft). I should have made that more clear.
