LOW time 152!

Something seems fishy....

for 17500 I can buy a really nice 152 I've been watching, with better Nav-Com and good Logbooks.

Might as well put in back in the hangar, for 75K, no-one in their right mind should even be calling this guy....

Collector's item?

How often was the engine run? Hangared or not, it needs a serious pre-buy inspection.

Yea, this is a serious hanger queen. At a dozen or so hours a year, I would wonder about the engine internals.

And buying a 152 as a "collectors item"?

It does appear to be a real nice looking 152 though.

In the old Jaguar world, there's a general philosophy that buying a higher mileage car in good condition is better than lower mileage. Reason being, the previous owner will have used it more and therefore taken better care of it. Little things that won't break under occasional use may break once put back into regular service. Of course, on a 152, there's not exactly a lot to break.

Still, that's a major "No" for me.

I need to talk to this "collector."

I have a bunch of dryer lint, some old chainsaw chains, and a whole mess of horseshoes I'd like to sell him....

He says "all original" was Cessna putting small N numbers on the stabilizer in '79?

If he sells his airplane I wonder if he'd rent me his hangar for 10-12K a month or so?

Transponders were around in 1979 but was Garmin even on a business plan at the time? The 330 looks slightly out of place.

Yes ('79 factory photo below). Cessna, along with most other manufacturers, took advantage of the short-lived small-number reg beginning halfway into the '78 model year, through the '82 model year.

You know, I don't think I want to be the guy in the 152 flying around those clouds...BTDT in the Zodiac, and it was a wild ride.

Egh, depends. I've flown through and around clouds like that in the Archer that were actually quite smooth. The bumpiest rides I've ever had were in clear air below a broken cloud layer. Of course, I've never flown through a thunderstorm (and aim to keep it that way). :)

I was an MD80 that went through one, YIKES! We were leaving out of Austin (The old airport) and went right through one and I was happy I had my belt tightly cinched.

I have been close to them in a bugsmasher and that was a good enough lesson for me.

Garmin Xponder and GPS. Yeah, that's 100% original.

This guy is so far out of touch he makes Joaquin Phoenix seem normal.

Hey I need to blow $75,500 on something foolish. What should it be?
Hmm, I think I have an idea! oh, and let's not forget the free crackpipe from the seller!!!!!!

yikes!!
30 years and 500 hours on that engine...not good, a lot of hoses and to replace and other things rubber... unless it's been done during the annuals.. but even the engine manufactures do not recommend 30 yrs between rebuilds.. and not running the engine.. you need to splash the oil on a regular basis to keep surface rust of things on the inside. And it's been in humid Southern California.

The transponder has TIS capability.. can the Trimble GPS nav display it?
If not.. then it matters not that it is a Garmin 330 S-Mode capable.

I'd be real suspicious about that engine. I know when I bought my Tiger
that I used to have.. it was immaculate and only had 900 hrs on it. 1978.
It was at my airport, the mechanic there had worked on it. Did all
the checks .. oil analysis. Still a year later started getting little flakes
in the oil filter. Ended up putting a new engine in it. It hadn't flown
much in the few years before I bought it.
