Does anyone have any recommendations for a CFI in the Chicago area? I'm looking to get a commercial and CFI. I'm not too concerned about the commercial, but for the CFI I'd like a reasonably experienced mentor who's really into being a great CFI. WWII experience not necessary, but someone with a few successful CFI candidates would be great. :)

I'm in the northwest suburbs....closest airports are PWK and 06C, then DPA, 3CK, ARR...in that order.

I'm also hunting for a suitable (i.e. complex) airplane to use for this project (Arrow, 172/182 RG, etc). They are harder to find than I would have expected. Most places that I've talked to have either needlessly expensive options (Bo's, 210's, etc) or seem to be scrounging up mysterious planes from mysterious sources ("don't worry, we know a guy who knows a guy..."). Maybe someone out there with an underused plane would be interested in selling some block time?

Any suggestions welcome....thanks!

Check out windy city flyers. They're based out of pwk. Nice school, instructors are good. As for cost, its flying so it's never cheap.

I like Jason Unger at Fly There (PWK based). Unfortunately the only complex choices they have are (I believe) a V-tail Bo and a 210. However, they also have a Redbird so you might be able to make up some of the costs by doing some work in the sim.
