We have another Instrument Rated pilot on our hands. :D

I should have known it would be a crazy day when the date got moved back and forth about 10 times. I wake up this morning, take a shower and start getting my stuff together when I notice that I missed a text message from my instructor. He's asking me if I can be at the airport 2 hours earlier than planned because his other student who was doing a PPL checkride with the same examiner wasn't going to be able to fly until after the marine layer burned off. They wanted to get me in earlier so that we could both finish in one day. Now I'm frantically rushing around to get ready.

Thankfully that was the worst part though. Once I got there I had a little time to do my final prep and everything went smooth from there. The DPE stumped me on a few things on the Oral, but I was pretty on top of things for the most part. When we finished with that he said I did well "I'd give you about a 90%".

The flight I was quite well prepared for and it went very smoothly. We did our first approach and it went like clockwork, mainly because I've practiced that approach so many times. When we asked for our second from ATC they said there would be a delay because of Parachute activity at the airport so we mixed up the game plan a little bit and did what was supposed to be our last approach next (to a different airport) then he provided me with vectors to do the last approach once the skydivers were clear. For the most part I felt really good with my flying today, and on short final of the last approach he said "I think you've got this, go around and we'll head back home VFR" On the way back to CRQ he complimented me again and said it was gonna be an easy sign off for him. Guess all my time studying and practicing paid off!

Congrats,another IFR rated pilot.

Congrats, I hope to be able to say the same one day!

Congrats.. Should be six or so months behind you...

And of course, just as I get my IR the June gloom goes away. It's been OVC009 every day for weeks, sometimes burning off in the afternoon but often not. Today was SKC without even a suggestion of a marine layer. I'm betting it'll be like this for the next few months too. LOL.

Hey you've had two months of gray, let us VFR Pilots have some fun now ;)

I've had 3 months of not being able to see anything, I'm kinda happy to go VFR again for a change as well! Just think it's kinda funny.

I had the same thing when I got my IR. Before I got it, it seemed like I was always cancelling flights due to low clouds. Then, once I passed the checkride, I had a hell of a time finding clouds to get any actual in. They either ran away from me or came loaded with ice!

Yeah, weather has a sense of humor, that's for sure.

File as much as you can! Even on VFR days file so you don't let your skills deteriorate. If you want to fly VFR I would practice landings. Landings always seem to get worse while training for the IR:D

Only a 90%? :dunno:

(well, somebody had to say it)

Congrats!

Congrats! Who'd you use for your DPE?

Jay Brentzel, same DPE I did my PPL with.

Tell me about it. This morning I was all excited when I showed up to the airport and it was 3SM 002OVC. By the time I got fuel, did the preflight and loaded up the dog I was transporting it had all evaporated :rolleyes2: I filed IFR anyways, but never touched a cloud. Maybe I'll get luckier tomorrow since I'll be leaving earlier.

LOL, he said that was better than most, so I'll take it :goofy:
