Everything Offends Me
I bought a Vicks Vaporizer today. The following comes direct from the instructions:

IN U.S.: For best results fill the medication cup on the steam unit (located directly below nightlight and in front of the steam outlet). Vicks VapoSteam can also be added directly in the water container.

IN CANADA: For best results fill the medication cup on the steam unit (located directly below nightlight and in front of the steam outlet) with one tablespoon of Vicks VapoSteam.

NOTE: In Canada, Vicks VapoSteam cannot be added directly to the water.

.......

Now, I know the answer is probably something dumb like their FDA hasn't approved it to be used that way (I assume their FDA is as useless as ours), but this actually made me laugh pretty hard.

In California, you probably have to get a license and permission from your six closest neighbors.

I doubt that is even legal to sell it in California... unless at least five or ten lawmakers have been paid off. If they have, it's a year to year contract so that all of our lawmakers can get their turn at their fair share of the graft over time.

In California vicks vapo rub is a known carcinogen.
Testing causes cancer. Just ask the mice they feed 100 times a daily average just to find out it causes cancer, obesity, bad hair, old age, flu, and other possible serious side effects including death, which I submit probably rises to something higher than serious.

You know the one substance that they've found in every single cancerous tumor that has ever been examined?

Not asbestos, not dioxin, not Agent Orange...but dihydrogen monoxide...it's contaminated the vast majority of rivers and lakes. High concentrations even appear in mother's breast milk.

I seem to recall many years ago that you would put the medicine directly in the water. I suspect they redesigned the device so as to generate new sales rather than to conform to some FDA regulation.
What works well for me is a simple (and cheap) nasal saline spray. The CVS brand for $3 works as well as the $10 variety.

OHMYGOSH! I'm surrounded by a huge pool of it. :D

I love the "trivia question" part of winning a prize in Canada.

Ahhhh, yes. The "skill testing question" that converts a contest from an illegal gambling sweepstakes to a game of skill that is fully consistent with the Criminal Code.

www.dhmo.org will give you all the information you need on this deadly chemical. :D

I still think it should be called dihydrogen oxide.

Nah, you have to have a special block installed in the medication container to limit it to half capacity. Any attachments to the vaporizer of anything colored black is unauthorized under the Think Of The Children Anti-Assault Vaporizer Act.

That do hydrogen monoxide is a pervasive toxin, I figure since it can me found in anything that dies, it's likely the cause of all death.

In Nebraska we rub the Vicks on the chest of the I'll kid. Turn the vaporizer on in the corner of the room.

Well, we got a lot of mileage out of that post.

It's because it's a different recipe. I found this thread after watching a video of an American woman comparing it to Kaz brand, saying the Vicks was stronger. I'm in Canada and just bought a vaporizer and Vaposteam, saw the exact same instructions and also thought it was the rules. But after using it and finding it very weak, decided to compare ingredients and sure enough, the US version is alcohol based, which easily evaporates, while the Canadian version is oil based, which makes a mess (and probably clogs the steamer.) Kaz is the parent company anyway, and I wonder if this is the Kaz version. Anyway, I need to get my hands on some American Vaposteam, and now you know. :)

Exactly. Heck, the US formula of Preparation H has been emasculated, so people have been smuggling it in from Canada to treat their facial wrinkles. Seriously.

A thread about vaporizer directions necroed in order to discuss the difference in composition between American and Canadian Vicks and which country makes a more suitable version of Preparation H for facial use. This day is going well so far..

I'm holding out for the verdict from PoAers as to whether using any of these can be logged as PIC time...

I've read that Cheez Whiz in the US has no actual dairy stuff in it. All oil. Here in Canada it still has processed cheese. Is this true about the US recipe?

I'm not sure, but the US version helps smooth out facial wrinkles better when applied topically.

Actually, the thread was about dissing Canada, and it was necroed to skool lazy *sses who don't do their homework. But y'all keep going, apparently you've got nothing else to do.

Prefer the thread about being dead? LOL

That's only because we're all locked away in our socially distanced residences and only get let out to fly when we've been good. You should see what we are like unconstrained. ;)

But I gotta admit, when I read the OP I was certain the reason it "...cannot be added directly to the water" is because in Canada the latter is frozen all the time.
