...am I the only one who cannot watch Lilies of the Field and remain unmoved?

Such a fine film.

I've never seen it... but I get moved by films all the time - guess that's why they call 'em movies heheheh. :)

I saw it for the first time at 15, my aunt forced me to watch it. I instantly fell in love with film and with Lilies in the Field. Such a wonderful movie... and Sidney Poitier is one of the greatest actors (dramatic and cinematic) of all time.

Cheers,

-Andrew

I saw it listed as playing on one of the movie channels tonight. I passed on watching it.

Turn in your man-card! Guys like movies with car chases and explosions and bimbos, preferably all three simultaneously. Didn't you get the memo???

I don't like those movies to the exclusion of others.

Shoot I have watched Music and Lyrics about 5 time last month! It is no Notting Hill but it is good and makes me feel good watching it.

Yep. Torturing the flaky Tivo software, I had it recording "Ice Road Truckers" and another show in HD at the same time I was transferring "I Am Legend" ..i.e. It was recording three streams in HD while playing a third. It worked. I watched both later.

I just decided to check out "2001: A Space Odyssey." It is amazing how good the effects were in when they were invented in 1968 and they got a lot of the future predicitons right. OK, they thought everything would have keypad rather then a touch screen. And AT&T would only charge $1.70 for a 5 minute video phone call from the space station. And of course we'd have a Hilton Hotel with a Howard Johnson's on a permanent space station in Earth orbit and a base on the moon.

I have a copy of "The 21st Century" from 1966 or so that made about the same predictions.

One we couldn't imagine in the 1960s was individuals owning a half dozen or more full computers that would do all of those tasks. We thought we'd have multiple screens on big computers. How else could it work? :D

"You might have a screen that would bring you news, another with current stock quotes, one for video telephone. one for sending messages..." :P

Saw a movie with one of the best car chases I've seen in a long time; Vantage Point. On DVD now. Worth it.
For the more sentimental among us, try "The Bucket List".
Never saw Lillies and probably won't until the SO finds out about it.
