Everything Offends Me
Ok, so I'm flying a N-numbered aircraft in Europe. I know altimeter is given in millibars by default, but can I request the altimeter in inches of mercury?

Is altitude given in Meters? How about vertical speed, is that Meters per second? Are runway lengths given in meters?

Ok now, lets assume I'm in Canada. Same questions.

You might, if they have the capability. Costs nothing to ask a question. Otherwise a conversion chart is in order.

In England, France and Germany, altitudes are given in feet. I can't speak with authority about others. I know Japan is in feet and Russia and China are in meters. VSI is given in Feet per minute, in China and Russia. And the other countries I mentioned. Runway lengths are given in both units on the Jepp approach plates that we use.

Canadian ATC deals with English measures.

It has been a few years since I flew in the UK but I was given my altimeter setting in both millibars and inHG, all altitudes were given to me in feet.

Are gallons Imperial gallons in England and Canada?

I love how we make most of the rest of the world bend to our evil will.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha........... (Diabolical laughter)
