LED TV as computer monitor?

a colleague at work uses a 55" 4k tv as his monitor there. Actually is pretty nice. You can fit alot of code on it. was only around $450 if i remember right. brand was Seiki.

I have the 40" one and it's my main work monitor. It was right around $400 with shipping and tax. I did have to buy a new $200 graphics card to drive it though. It needs "native HDMI", whatever the hell that is.

From the discussion, it's clear to me that whether a TV works as a computer monitor depends on whether you're using it in an application that requires the extra resolution that some monitors have.

I woke up one morning after one of the shuttles landed at Edwards AFB as an alternate and heard a strange engine/plane noise that I couldn't place. Turned out to be the 747 carrier with the shuttle on the back, and two F-16's in trail that I could just barely see from my bed

Back when we used to do cool things... Neat that you got to see them in person. I never did.

I figured you'd go that way once we mentioned the prices. They're darn near throwaway at this point at the 23" size.
