Oh man, now I'm dreaming about going to Tandy and buying a hide for my local auto shop to do seats from.
A ridiculous non-sequitur, but this thread is really making me miss the old Naugles fast-food chain, the sister to Del Taco.
just guessing, but I'm thinking the certs are more about smoke and flame, and likely doesn't consider the melt issues......All materials have burn certs, and are identical to the factory TC materials, so whatever risk there is, the FAA approves of it.
FYI: The basic Part 25 burn certs you get cover flame propagation limits. Once you get into larger aircraft with 20 seats or more, smoke density and other limits come into play.just guessing, but I'm thinking the certs are more about smoke and flame, and likely doesn't consider the melt issues......
