Lack of AME's in NYC

There used to be a ton of them, and now there are only a handful who are doing class III medicals. I'm assuming due to BasicMed, most got out.

Anybody have any recommendations for an AME in NYC area?

Or should I go with BasicMed? I have a SODA for vision issue in one eye. I don't know if that makes any difference whether I can do BasicMed.

I don't think the SODA makes any difference on BasicMed eligibility, the question is whether the physician will sign you off for BasicMed. Which, of course, depends on the physician and what the vision issue is. I would think that, if it's SODA'd, most AMEs who do BasicMed would sign you off without question, at least on that point.

If you were closer to VT I could recommend an AME up here who, also, does BasicMed. PM me if interested.

I did a search for all NY AME's and I don't think I saw that name in the list. But I didn't really look at the doctors in Long Island. My preference was the 5 boroughs. I found one in Queens. Dr. Dmitry Renzikoff.
